Guardian of Time & the Underworld

Setsuna Meioh // Scorpio // Guarded by Planet Pluto
Mysterious, protective, and lonely.
SM RPG ♥

Setsuna is one of the most calm characters in Sailor Moon. As a senshi, she is usually the one who keeps the coolest head. She seems detached from much of the action, but is actually quite involved, though often reserving her appearances for the times when she is needed the most. She rarely voices her opinions about things, having a very reserved personality. She seems intensely focused on her work as a senshi, which is a valuable skill for one who must guard the gates of time! She takes her job very seriously. She is passionate about whatever she does, and never takes half measures. She even risked her life to stop time in order to aid the mission of the senshi. Garnet is often said to help those who are searching for information on past lives, so this is a perfect stone for Sailor Pluto. She guards the Door of Space-Time, and is privy to the secrets of past and future lives. Garnet is also used for protection, to illuminate the night. Sailor Pluto leads ChibiUsa through the darkness of traveling time, and is always a protector to the young girl.

She leaned into Pluto’s touch, a soft one that she’d missed very much in the last few weeks.  She felt so alone, no matter how bad she felt for saying that.  She knew she wasn’t alone.  Zoisite was there.  Zoisite needed her and she needed Zoisite and she knew that.  But, she felt alone anyways.

Yes, Zoisite would be her father.  But he wasn’t yet.  Just as Mercury wasn’t yet her mother.  There were still pieces of their personalities that would shift in the years before Pallas arrived, pieces that Pallas had trouble placing as related to her parents.  While she was there, and while they were with her, she felt as though they weren’t at the same time.

Strong, strong.  Pallas had never been the strong one.  The others were the strong ones; they always had been.  They were physically strong and emotionally strong and always acted so learned.  Pallas was behind.  She was trying to catch up, learning to be the way they were, but she was still so far behind and she didn’t know how to face this now.  She’d never been strong, especially not strong enough for this.

She’d know when it was time?  She wanted it to be time now.  She, herself, couldn’t think of a better time for her to return.  She was tired of training and of learning.  She was tired of this time period and she was tired of everything being flipped around.

“I don’t know if I can,” she finally mumbled.  “I don’t know if I can be strong or have faith in anything.  Everything is different here, Pluto.  Everyone is fighting and fighting.  They’re not supposed to be fighting.”

“I know I promised Zoisite I’d stay with him.  And, I told Venus that I’d attend the senshi meeting and behave a proper senshi… But, how am I supposed to do that?  Now?”

She needed the answers.  She pleaded with the stoic senshi to give them to her.

As Pluto looked at Pallas, she sighed softly, wishing there was more she could do to ease the pain. If it were not such a risk, Pluto would have easily allowed the child to return to the future. But it was not yet time.  Too fragile were these moments; just one touch and it was possible that something would break.

“Oh, Little One.  I know it is different, but all this fighting you see now…Everyone is fighting, but not without a purpose.  They are fighting for the future.”  Pluto placed her hands on Pallas’s shoulders once more and looked at her with a gentle expression.  ”You are strong, Pallas.  Look how far you’ve made it in the past.”

Pluto paused for a moment, considered her next words, and then went on.  ”Do you know why you were sent to train in the past, Pallas?”  She smiled at the younger scout. And without waiting for an answer, Pluto continued speaking.  ”The past is where you will learn all you need to know to become stronger, where you will learn to have more faith in yourself and in others. That is why you must not worry so much, Little One.”  She could only tell her as much.  Pluto gave Pallas one last hug before releasing the girl and taking a few steps back.

Go. Return to the past. And in a day’s time, attend the meeting with the rest of the scouts at Sailor Mar’s temple.”  Everything will be fine…I would never rest if it would not be.

“Until we meet again, Pallas.  Sailor Pallas.”

Pallas heart sank instantly. They weren’t allowing her to go back? They weren’t going to let her see her mother? They would leave her with this kind of thing happening. The tears filled her eyes and she clenched her teeth.

“She died, Pluto. Ami died and I saw it,” she grabbed a hold of the arm that was reached towards her and clutched it. “I just need to see my mother. I need to know she’s okay and she’ll be back. I need to know that everything is going to be okay.”

She pleaded. She was seconds from begging from her knees. This wasn’t fair. She didn’t know what else to do besides beg for permission to see Ami. Pluto and Her Highness surely couldn’t deny such a simple right. Her parents were bound to be worried about her. They were bound to want to see her again anyways, weren’t they?

“I won’t tell this time, I promise. I know I broke my promise and told them I was their child. But, I had to. I promise I won’t do it again. Please don’t punish me. I need to see them. I want to see them. Will Her Highness not allow this?”

With a gentle touch, Pluto wiped at the tears that threatened to spill from the child’s eyes.  She could only imagine how painful it must have been for Pallas since witnessing her own mother’s death.  A child seeing her own mother die right before their very eyes.  She looked down at the hands that clutched onto her arms.

Pluto maintained her stoic expression, with the only hint of emotion being her eyes, eyes that constantly showed sadness.  ”I would love to help you best I can, Little One, however…”  She paused, looking at Pallas, watching for the girl’s expressions. “You must remain strong.”  It was the most Pluto could say without revealing hints of the future.

She shook her head at the other.  ”I’m afraid it is not yet time for you to return, Pallas.”  Pluto quickly glanced over her shoulders at the white doors behind her before turning back.  ”When it is time, you will know…For now you must return to the past.”  Aside from the timing, it was also dangerous to travel to the future when events in the past were so shaky.  The risk of being lost in another dimension was currently much too high, and Pluto was not about to take her chances.

“You must remain strong, Pallas,” Pluto repeated, suddenly smiling. “You must have hope and faith in yourself and those around you…always.”

spallapalla:

She glanced behind her as she opened the door quietly.  She didn’t want to wake him.  She’d promised that she’d stay there for the night, but she couldn’t sleep.  She couldn’t lay still.  She could barely think.  She wanted to go home.  She didn’t want to be a senshi at the moment, despite her promise to the other girls.  She needed her mother.

She was tired and her body was hurting a little from the hits she’d taken from the youma earlier on.  Though she’d been through some pretty rough training sessions, especially those against Juno, she’d never been in an actual altercation.  That was the reasoning to send her back, she thought.  She needed practice under the expert protection of the older girls, in a day when things were still happening.

She hadn’t, however, realized that this was the reason she’d need protection.  She needed protection from her own mother’s monsters.  She’d thought Nehelennia would be back, but the only hint she’d gotten about her had been the very realistic dream.  A large part of her wishes it had been the old hag.

When she reached the park that she’d arrived in the city at, she stopped and once again looked around.  No one had stopped the small child as she wondered the streets of Tokyo at well past midnight.  She’d reached the park with ease and, as she had hoped, it seemed to be completely empty for the night.

She reached around her neck and clutched the small key, taking a deep breath, she pulled it off her neck, thrust it into the air, and yelled the words that Pluto had taught her right before she left.  Just as it should, the sky seemed to open up and into the opening she went.

The darkness was somewhat familiar and the key lead her through it like it should.  The last time, Pluto had accompanied her the entire way.  This time, she’d have to trust the lead that was given to her.  As the large door came into view and it’s gaurdian standing before it, she started to run.

As she got closer, she began to scream, “Pluto, please let me through.  Pluto, please!  Let me see my mother.”

Some time ago, Neo-Queen Serenity had called upon her from present Earth. Setsuna had left quietly without a word to any, as that was her silent order.  The future is changing, the Queen had told her.  An unforseen tragedy.  And to have the soldier of time exist in two forms while it all occurred would only spell deeper trouble.  She needed to take her post again at the Gate of Times, with full powers and full potential, in order to fix any damage that such tragedy could bestow upon the timeline.  A death of a fellow soldier, afterall, was quite a large event.  Sailor Mercury…

Since returning to her post, she was eternally Sailor Pluto once more, guarding over the gate of the past and future alone.  With each passing day, the thick haze that blanketed the surrounding space grew darker.  Alas, Pluto sensed that a portal had been opened and someone had entered the space.  She stood her guard, waiting for what or who was to come.

Pluto spotted a familiar figure running towards her in the distance.  ”Pallas,” she called out.  She took no more than a few step forwards to further close the gap between them.  Upon hearing Pallas’s request, Pluto frowned slightly, aware of what had happened with the girl’s mother.

Pluto bent down slightly to meet the girl’s height and placed a hand on her shoulder.  ”I am afraid that is not possible, little one…”
